Depot Manager
Salary: £67,500 per annum + Bonus + Company Car/ allowance + Amazing Benefits
40 hours
8am- 5:00pm Monday- Friday (30 minutes unpaid lunch)

An exciting opportunity has become available at Commercial Motors, Wales, part of the NRG Riverside Group. We are looking for an experienced Depot Manager to join the team and help us on our journey to growth. In this role, you will be responsible for efficiently and effectively leading and managing all departments within the depot maintaining a good level of operational management, team management, budgeting and costs, safety and compliance, customer care, and quality standards and monitoring.
Who will you be working for?
Commercial Motors (Wales) Limited is wholly owned by NRG Riverside, the UK’s largest municipal and specialist fleet hire company. From our Commercial Motors depot in Newport, South Wales, we operate an Isuzu Truck dealership, an MAN Service Partner operation and a DVSA Authorised Test Facility. Combined with fleet maintenance contracts for retail customers and Flexi-Hire operations for the wider NRG Riverside business, we really do provide every kind of service to our valued customers of our Commercial Motors business.
NRG Riverside provide specialist vehicles on short and long-term hire, a range of vehicle maintenance packages and we offer a large portfolio of high-quality used vehicles for sale. NRG Riverside has the skills, knowledge, and expertise to support all your operational needs. Established in 1996, we’ve supported our valued customers to rationalise and decarbonise their fleets, save money and improve efficiency by reducing ‘Vehicle Off Road’ (VOR) time.
What candidate are we looking for?
* Experience from within a similar role as a Depot Manager within the HGV Industry
* 5 yrs experience in a HGV workshop management position. (Essential)
* Management or leadership qualification NVQ. (Preferable)
* NVQ or City & Guilds in Motor Vehicle Technology (Light & Heavy). (Preferable)
* IOSH trained and certified. (Preferrable)
* Strong team management skills evidenced by a steady history of working within a leadership role
* Experience in managing the day-to-day activities of a Commercial Vehicle Workshop
* Proven skills in productivity and efficiency management
* Knowledge and understanding of compliance & Operators licence requirements
* Technical background in respect of commercial vehicle repair
* Financial management experience, in particular KPI reporting, P&L responsibilities
* Leadership & people management experience
* Experience in the Waste & Recycling industry would be great, but not essential
* Experience managing a main dealer operation, not essential
* Highly organised with the ability to delegate work and manage workload
What will be your duties?
* As the Depot Manager you will be responsible for the overall management of the depot and its teams, ensuring optimum productivity is maintained at all times
* Management of Line Managers with the responsibility of their coaching and development, one-ones, development plans, absence management and performance management etc. as well as all other necessary HR duties
* Setting expectations and responsibilities throughout the depot in line with operational requirements
* Monitoring productivity throughout each department ensuring optimum levels are maintained, taking action when this fails
* Ensure the depot and its teams are adhering to health and safety regulations and that knowledge of health and safety policies is passed to every employee
* Maintaining a high level of customer care throughout the depot through ensuring partnerships with customers and suppliers are nurtured and that customer’s needs are consistently met
* Ensure the depot is fully committed to delivering service excellence
* Ensure the depot is adhering to quality standards and monitoring as well as ensuring all staff are up to date with relevant legislation
* Monitoring of all depot financial/ operational costs and influencing its effect on profit and loss
* Managing dealer franchise standards and relationships
