Job Summary
We are seeking a dedicated Kitchen Porter/Kitchen Assistant to support our culinary team in maintaining a clean, organised, and efficient kitchen environment. This role involves assisting with food preparation, cleaning duties, and supporting the smooth operation of our restaurant or hotel kitchen. The ideal candidate will have a keen eye for cleanliness, good organisational skills, and a positive attitude towards teamwork and hospitality. Responsibilities
* Assist with basic food preparation tasks under supervision, including peeling, chopping, and organising ingredients
* Support chefs with cooking and plating as required
* Maintain cleanliness of all kitchen areas, including washing dishes, utensils, pots, and pans
* Ensure all work surfaces are sanitised and organised in accordance with health and safety standards
* Help with waste disposal and recycling procedures to maintain a hygienic environment
* Restock supplies and assist in storing ingredients correctly
* Support the serving staff during busy periods by providing necessary assistance
* Follow all health and safety regulations to ensure a safe working environment for all staff members
Qualifications
* Previous experience in a restaurant, hotel, or hospitality setting is desirable but not essential
* Knowledge of food preparation and basic cooking techniques is advantageous
* Experience working in a busy kitchen environment or culinary background is preferred
* Strong organisational skills with attention to cleanliness and hygiene standards
* Ability to work efficiently both independently and as part of a team
* Flexibility to work shifts as required, including evenings or weekends if necessary
* A positive attitude and willingness to learn about culinary operations and hospitality standards
