Overview
The successful candidate will join the team of highly skilled Optometrists to deliver care to people attending the eye department across a broad range of services within Cwm Taf Morgannwg University Health Board. The Optometry team is well-integrated and works closely with multi-professionals to provide care in core and extended-role services. Optometrists in the department are actively involved in teaching and audit. Professional and personal development are encouraged and supported. The post is located in South Wales, with accessibility to Cardiff, Swansea, and surrounding areas.
Role and responsibilities
An exciting opportunity has arisen for an enthusiastic and motivated Optometrist to join the Optometry team at Cwm Taf Morgannwg University Health Board. The post holder will participate in delivering care across a variety of sub-specialities within Optometry and Ophthalmology, including glaucoma, medical retina, unscheduled care, complex contact lenses, and paediatrics. The post is for ten clinical sessions a week. A commitment of two days per week as a minimum is preferred but we welcome full time and part-time interest.
Sponsorship and eligibility
Applicants who are not UK or Republic of Ireland nationals will require sponsorship to obtain either a Health and Care Visa or a Skilled Worker Visa unless they already hold permission to work via another route. Prospective applicants should self-assess their eligibility for sponsorship by visiting the UK Government\'s Work in the UK guidance. For eligible candidates, the Health and Care Visa offers reduced application costs and exempts payment of the annual Immigration Health Surcharge.
Requirements
All posts are subject to relevant checks, including a Disclosure and Barring Service check and, where required, Professional Registration verification. Welsh Skills Desirable: Level 3 Speaking/Listening (or \'B1\' Level if you\'ve learnt Welsh as an adult). This does not require fluent writing in Welsh; it indicates the ability to hold simple conversations with patients.
