<div><h3>Job Overview</h3><p>An exciting opportunity exists to enter the NHS Audiology career pathway as an Associate Practitioner in Audiology. The post will be based at Wrexham Maelor Hospital (with postings at Bodelwyddan, Welshpool and Bangor if applied separately). Successful applicants will be expected to apply for posts within Wales at the end of the 2‑year fixed‑term post. The role involves performing hearing assessments, developing care and management plans, and primarily caring for adult patients at the base hospital. The majority of training will be delivered in clinical settings, while a Certificate of Higher Education in Basic Audiological Practice will be completed through block release at Swansea University.</p><h3>Responsibilities</h3><ul><li>Perform hearing assessments and develop individual care and management plans for patients with hearing loss.</li><li>Demonstrate clinical judgement on a range of presenting clinical facts or scenarios, requiring analysis and selection of management options.</li><li>Support audit and development activity within the service using scientific and analytical skills.</li><li>Assist with fitting of hearing aids and other adult rehabilitation interventions.</li><li>Work under clinical supervision and mentoring throughout the normal working day.</li><li>Attend to routinely use locally and nationally agreed protocols.</li></ul><h3>Qualifications and Experience</h3><ul><li>2 A level science qualifications or equivalent, with scientific knowledge at least to foundation degree level (Higher National Diploma, Diploma in Higher Education, or equivalent).</li><li>Ability to absorb and apply new information.</li><li>Evidence of scientific experience (e.g., degree or equivalent academic capability). (Desirable)</li><li>Applied scientific projects, gathering data, analysis, and report production.</li><li>Experience in a customer‑focussed environment. (Desirable)</li><li>Experience dealing with people and caring for others.</li><li>Ability to communicate with hearing‑impaired people of all ages and their families.</li><li>Digitally literate. (Desirable)</li><li>Deaf aware. (Desirable) </li><li>Able to use computer and telephone.</li><li>Clear speech to enable communication with hearing‑impaired people; flexible approach to work.</li><li>Ability to prioritise own tasks and workload.</li><li>Empathy.</li><li>Able to travel between clinic sites. </li><li>Ability to adapt to changing circumstances.
