A fantastic opportunity to join a thriving food manufacturing business as their next Engineering Manager, leading a mid-large team of engineers with a well established leadership structure reporting into you.
The department is well resourced and has been heavily invested in throughout the last 5 years. As well as a strong maintenance team, there is dedicated resource across Process Engineering, Continuous Improvement, Reliability, Projects and Site Services. As a result, this role is less about firefighting and more about futureproofing the function and the site to be able to cope with the continued growth plans of the business. This will be in the form of continuing to drive Continuous Improvement activities, spearheading CAPEX project management and continuing to attract and retain high calibre engineers who operate to a high standard both autonomously and as part of a team. The role would be considered a 'good to great' position rather than heavy change management.
We are looking for a high calibre Engineering Manager with experience across Maintenance, Project Management and Continuous Improvement. This can be from a range of industries although a fast moving industry such as food, drink, brewing, pharmaceuticals, plastics etc would be advantageous, as would coming from a audited environment (BRC, MHRA etc). You will need to be able to balance strategic priorities with coaching and upskilling your direct reports and the wider team.
So why join? This is a company that genuinely invests in engineering and it is at the forefront of their operations. They have a track record of progressing people through the organisation, particularly with Engineers and Engineering leaders going on to take wider operational roles. The team retention is excellent, with both management routes and in role progression possible for your engineers, which means that you don't have the same churn that exists in many other local businesses. They have significant backing, but the environment is far more akin to a SME/mid sized business in terms of the look and feel of the site - full of decent, hard working individuals who work together well as part of a cohesive leadership team.
