Job Title: Underwriting Assistant
To provide administrative and operational support to the underwriting team and to ensure that all administrative processes are run as efficiently as possible, serving both internal teams and external clients.
Underwriting Assistants are expected to service a primary and secondary class of business. They should be flexible between teams and underwriters to provide coverage and maximize learning and experience.
Responsibilities
1. Risk Data Entry: Control of risk information received, ensuring appropriate electronic filing, keeping information up to date, and obtaining additional details as required for system efficiency.
2. Document Management: Ensuring files are stored appropriately.
3. Compliance/UW Control: Adhere to external and internal regulatory, statutory policies, procedures, standards, and market practices.
4. Credit Control: Monitor income, signings, chase late payments and renewals, and prepare relevant statistics and reports.
5. Operational Support: Support peer review processes.
Additional Responsibilities
* Engage proactively with underwriters and brokers to ensure excellent service delivery.
* Participate in departmental meetings, team discussions, peer reviews, and broker entertainment events.
* Promote and positively represent the Syndicate in the marketplace.
* Support Lloyd’s market modernization initiatives, including electronic trading and structured data capture.
Qualifications and Skills
* Experience in the London Market preferred.
* Desire to pursue relevant professional qualification (ACII).
* Strong academic background.
* No prior work experience necessary; full training provided.
* Proactive, enthusiastic, and a good team player.
* Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
* Ability to manage time effectively, meet deadlines, and prioritize tasks.
* Accurate and detail-oriented.
* Proficient in Microsoft Office suite.
