 
        
        B5, B6 or B7 Counsellor/High Intensity Counselling Psychotherapist
We are seeking to recruit a Registered and/or Accredited Band 5, 6 or 7 Counsellor to join the West Dorset Team. Candidates should be able to provide face‑to‑face, digital and telephone counselling, including occasional home visits, and be comfortable working with interpreters and in group settings. Flexible working is expected, including one evening per week.
Responsibilities
 * Provide short‑term, time‑limited counselling via face‑to‑face appointments, digital platforms and telephone, including home visits when necessary.
 * Facilitate individual and group therapy online or in person, ensuring excellent administration, IT and communication skills.
 * Work as part of a multidisciplinary team, maintaining clinical judgment and utilising clinical supervision and routine outcome monitoring.
 * Work flexibly, including one evening per week, to meet service demand in the West Dorset locality.
Essential Qualifications and Registration
 * Recognised Diploma or Degree in Psychotherapeutic Counselling, Psychotherapy or Counselling.
 * Post‑graduate qualification in one of the NICE‑approved counselling modalities: Person‑Centred Experiential (PCE CfD), Interpersonal Therapy (IPT), Dynamic Interpersonal Therapy (DIT) or Couples Therapy for Depression (CTfD).
 * Registration with a UK professional body – BACP, BPC or UKCP – and active accreditation status.
 * In current practice as a counsellor, with the ability to demonstrate experience using the above modalities.
Desirable Qualifications
 * Further training or qualification in an additional psychological therapy model.
 * Experience facilitating group therapy.
 * Experience in providing clinical supervision to peers.
Essential Skills and Experience
 * Proficient with data entry and IT systems relevant to NHS services.
 * Experience assessing mental health risk and developing suitable treatment plans.
 * Strong written and verbal communication skills in English.
Desirable Skills and Experience
 * Prior NHS Talking Therapy, primary‑care or other NHS setting experience.
 * Experience delivering time‑limited therapy with routine outcome monitoring.
 * Background in treating depression and related mental health difficulties.
Personal Qualities
 * Strong self‑care practices and resilience in a pressured environment.
 * Capacity for sustained, intense concentration and clinical judgement.
 * Teamworking ability, with experience setting and achieving personal and team targets.
 * Flexibility to meet patient care demands across multidisciplinary teams.
Driving Requirement
 * Must hold a UK driving licence (Level 2), be able to drive an official car when required.
Additional Information
 * UK professional registration is mandatory.
