PURPOSE OF THE ROLE

The role ensures that relevant misconduct is thoroughly investigated and addressed in line with legal and regulatory obligations.

Your Key Responsibilities And Impact
* Oversee the process and governance of whistleblowing or corporate investigations, including serious criminal behaviour, violent and sexual offences, elevated personal risk, harassment and cases posing reputational risk to BBC.
* Own communication and relationship management with key third party stakeholders, primarily law enforcement, security services, and other governmental agencies.
* Perform second‑tier review and endorsement of all Corporate Investigations and Whistleblowing outcome reporting and recommendations.
* Drive cultural change to promote awareness, trust and confidence in the whistleblowing investigation framework, acting as departmental ambassador at roadshows and other corporate events.
* Provide detailed insights, metrics and evaluation of risk to senior stakeholders, non‑executive directors and governance committees.
* Partner with internal and external stakeholders to coordinate actions on issues requiring multidisciplinary input, including those triggering independent review by law enforcement.
* Ensure identification and implementation of changes required by relevant legislation or best practice guidance. Direct the evaluation and use of case management and evidence‑handling technologies, including AI analytic tools.
Essential Criteria
* Comprehensive understanding and oversight of UK criminal law with in‑depth knowledge of relevant legislation, codes of practice, guidance and operating procedures across whistleblowing and corporate investigations.
* Relevant investigative qualifications (equivalent to PIP2 or higher) and professional institute membership(s), e.g. Association of Corporate Investigators (‘ACI’). Must have recognised interview training, e.g. PEACE.
* Detailed knowledge of evidence collection, handling and recording procedures, with extensive experience using case management software and evaluating opportunities to engage AI.
* Exceptional interpersonal and communication skills to manage difficult situations with resilience, sensitivity, professionalism and confidentiality.
* Demonstrate robust and precise reporting with actionable insights and recommendations to safeguard the corporation and its stakeholders.
