We’re seeking a motivated Dorset Dogs Area Project Officer to help deliver the nationally recognised Dorset Dogs project. In this role, you’ll work as part of the Dorset Dogs team to lead onsite engagement and deliver a varied programme of public-facing activities across the project area. What You Will Be Doing As part of a multidisciplinary team working across the Bournemouth, Christchurch and Poole Council and Dorset Council areas, you will: Support delivery of the Dorset Dogs project as part of heathland mitigation on behalf of 10 partner organisations. Promote responsible dog ownership and promote positive, access for people with dogs in the countryside. Build strong working relationships with partners, land managers, conservation bodies, dog-related businesses, charities, and local communities. Deliver face to face public engagement activities and communicate project messages through channels such as social media, websites, and printed materials. Contribute to broader project communication and outreach as outlined in the context statement. About You We’re looking for someone who: Is passionate about dogs, wildlife, and the natural environment, and understands how these interact. Has excellent communication skills and enjoys engaging with people of all ages. Has experience working within partnership settings and can build and maintain effective relationships with a wide range of stakeholders Further Information This is a full-time, fixed-term position until 31 March 2028. You’ll need to be comfortable working outdoors in all weather and available for some evening and weekend work. The role requires significant travel, so access to a vehicle is essential (a shared project vehicle is also available).
