My client is a leading automotive components manufacturer and a part of a multi-billion dollar group. Their expertise spans over five decades of advanced composite solutions, design, and manufacturing, offering a seamless one-stop service for detailed design, material choice, laminate design, pattern, mould, and jig design and production.
They operate from a purpose-built facility located in Surat, India, and export over 99% of their output to customers in the UK, USA, and the EU.
They are now looking for a CNC NPI/Training Engineer, a CNC professional with hands-on experience and knowledge of manufacturing operations, best practices, and improvements, with a focus on CNC machining techniques.
This is a temporary position for a minimum of 12 months with a possible extension.
The role involves starting remotely from the UK (working from home initially, then from the office when reopened) to participate in design and production process discussions for tooling, component manufacture, jigs, fixtures, and interactions with the Indian design, engineering, and production teams. The engineer will eventually support client interactions and quotation creation.
When working at the plant in India to introduce the products, the engineer will participate in continuous improvement programs, support the training team with manual and syllabus reviews, and train the trainers.
This position requires several trips to India, approximately every other month for three-week visits. The engineer will not spend more than 24 weeks in India within a 52-week period due to time constraints. Initial visits may be more frequent to develop close working relationships with the Indian team and understand the business.
Your Tasks include:
* Providing expert knowledge and support regarding CNC machining
* Introducing new products and their manufacturing processes
* Quickly resolving problems related to production optimization, efficiency, cost, and quality
* Breaking down technical problems, risks, and opportunities to develop and optimize production processes
* Delivering technical training sessions and training the trainers in India
* Creating technical conditions aimed at zero-defect production
* Building positive relationships with internal and external stakeholders
* Continuously improving production processes through lean initiatives
* Exemplifying a safety-focused mindset
