Overview:
MacTaggart Scott are seeking a self motivated and detail-oriented Quality Engineer who is a collaborative team player with a passion for contributing to a quality-driven culture.
The Quality Engineer will report to the Assistant Quality Manager and work with the Principal Quality Engineer to manage quality requirements for assigned projects. They will provide independent quality assurance, overseeing all quality tasks for projects, orders, and programs as defined by the Quality Department.
Key responsibilities include creating and managing the project quality plan, identifying risks, and maintaining key QA documents and audits. The Quality Engineer will also provide regular updates, input, and advice to project teams, ensuring quality objectives are met and reporting on risks and performance to the Assistant Quality Manager and Quality Manager.
This role requires minimum supervision and offers the chance to make a significant impact with opportunities for skill development. You'll gain hands-on experience in process improvement, internal and external audits, and working directly with customers to resolve issues. Key Responsibilities will include:
In supporting the Quality Management team the role will:
* Be responsible for ensuring key process owners undertake the development of their part of the quality management system
* Identify and address non-conformance issues
* Conduct internal auditing
* Act as customer interface to establish strong working relationships - identifying potential issues, implementing preventative and corrective measures as required
* Undertake Process Improvement reviews throughout the business
* Facilitate customer and third-party audits
* Assist the Quality Manager to achieve policy and objectives set for quality across the business
* Support project and business Health, Safety and Quality plans and policies through operational implementation. Performs quality audits where required to ensure vendors continue to work in compliance with MTS contractual requirements
* Train people within the Quality Department where required.
* Operational experience in a manufacturing environment and QA experience is essential
* Proven experience in a similar role with a thorough working knowledge of ISO9001
* Good spoken and written communication skills
* Performance driven with a strong work ethic
* Work with the Quality Coordinators and Supplier Quality on contract specific Issues.
Requirements
Essential:
* Operational experience in a manufacturing environment and QA experience is essential
* Proven experience in a similar role with a thorough working knowledge of ISO9001
* Good spoken and written communication skills
* Performance driven with a strong work ethic
* Proficient in the use of Microsoft Office and general computer skills.
* In-depth knowledge of the technical aspects of manufacturing and engineering
Desirable:
* ISO 9001 Internal Auditor certification
* Recognised technical qualification
* Technical Workshop experience of CNC, Welding, Testing and / or Fitting.
* HNC or equivalent
* Auditor certification
The successful candidate must hold or be able to meet the appropriate Security Clearance as required.
