We currently have a vacancy for an Information Governance Officer to join our Legal, Governance & Compliance team.

Governance, Risk and Compliance Services provides a dual role of enabling and protecting the authority to deliver on its priorities. It supports the organisation in operating within the appropriate governance and assurance framework, providing the necessary oversight and guidance, and working collaboratively with a ‘whole system’ approach. This includes identifying collective issues, inconsistencies and gaps across the Combined Authority and providing holistic solutions.

This post is subject to vetting clearance.

Due to the nature of this role, it is a requirement that the successful applicant will be subject to relevant vetting checks at the appropriate level and any job offer will be conditional subject to successful vetting clearance. Applicants should be aware that it is not possible to make meaningful vetting enquiries in many jurisdictions outside the UK. Vetting clearance cannot therefore be granted if the applicant has not been resident in the UK for the relevant minimum period and comparable vetting enquiries cannot be made in jurisdictions where the individual has been residing.

The relevant periods are three years for NPPV 1&2 and five years for NPPV3. Further guidance can be found here.

The Role

Reporting into the Information Governance Manager & Data Protection Officer, your key responsibilities will include:

*

Advise on compliance with the General Data Protection Regulation (UK GDPR), by responding to officer queries, supporting corporate projects, etc.

*

Process requests for information under the Freedom of Information Act (FOIA), Environmental Information Regulations (EIR), and the UK GDPR.

*

Risk assesses the impact of new data collection exercises by reviewing Data Protection Impact Assessments (DPIAs).

*

Review the accuracy and consistency of Data Processing Agreements (DPAs) and Data Sharing Agreements (DSAs) before they are signed.

About You

You will have the following key skills, attributes, education and experience:

*

Educated to degree level or equivalent experience

*

Practical experience of successfully performing in a similar role.

*

Knowledge of Data Protection, FOI, EIR, records management and information governance issues and related legislation.

*

Ability to organise and assimilate technical information and convey it to relevant colleagues and stakeholders to facilitate the progression of matters.

*

Ability to work independently on a variety of information governance work, including providing a high standard of advice to officers in relation to the work.

Please note that whilst it is our policy to recruit at SP1 for all appointments, which is the salary stated above, each role includes career salary progression, with incremental increases applicable in most cases on an annual basis
