Hours are on a bank basis, as and when cover is needed. Core shifts include Monday 6–9pm, Wednesday 6–9pm, Friday 6–9pm, and Saturday 5.30–9.30pm.
The Role
This role involves working with our Seniors (ages 12 up to 19 years old). The Recreation area is the heart of Inspire and the social hub – its a flexible space where anything can happen. As a member of the rec team you'll be ensuring young people have access to an exciting and engaging programme in which anybody can participate. You'll help to create a space that is warm, welcoming, active and full of life and challenge. Together with the Junior/Senior Coordinators, you will develop and implement a recreational programme that is exciting, challenging and ever changing. The role is 100% face to face delivery with young people.
Key Responsibilities
* Work with young people to build positive relationships and develop their skills
* Deliver a high-quality programme of activity that is exciting, safe, varied, innovative, developmental, and directly responds to the diverse needs and interests of members
* Comply with all policies and procedures, with particular reference to safeguarding, codes of conduct, health and safety and equality and diversity to ensure all activities are accessible
* Undertake and attend regular training and development sessions and events where required
* Ensure that members maintain a high standard of behaviour and discipline during sessions by making the area a hub of activity and fun
* Enthuse others including staff, volunteers & young people.
* To make the environment fun and the place to be. Represent Inspire positively and effectively in all dealings with internal colleagues, and external partners
Essentials
* Experience of face to face activity delivery with groups of young people
* Experience of working with young people from diverse backgrounds and with challenging needs
* Experience of working in a team
* Knowledge of health and safety, diversity awareness and safeguarding best practice Ability to engage and build positive relationships with young people
* Experience of delivering a range of informal, creative activities to young people
* Able to work both as part of a team and under own initiative
* Able to plan and evaluate programs of activity including production of session plans and evaluations
* Able to communicate effectively with young people, parents, team members and members of the public
