About the Team
The Surrey Fire and Rescue Logistics team plays a critical role in supporting the Fire and Rescue Service by ensuring our operational crews have the necessary tools, equipment, and resources to deliver life-saving services. The team manages a broad range of IT solutions and other essential resources, providing high-quality support to frontline teams to ensure operational readiness and effective digital management.
About the Role
As part of Surrey Fire and Rescue Service (SFRS), you will lead the delivery of high-quality IT support and project services by managing the SFRS IT team and collaborating closely with Surrey County Council (SCC) IT. A key aspect of your role will be ensuring service resilience and adaptability in anticipation of potential changes from Local Government Reorganisation (LGR) and devolution.
You will oversee service continuity, ensuring your team is well-trained, adequately resourced, and aligned with SFRS procedures. Maintaining high customer satisfaction through feedback review and service adaptation will be essential. Additionally, you will manage risk and compliance, particularly in handling major incidents, and apply ITIL practices for effective knowledge management and long-term service improvement.
Further responsibilities include managing team performance, supporting staff welfare, leading service implementation and transition, producing post-incident reports, and embedding lessons learned.
Shortlisting Criteria

2. Experience in cyber security, including systems strengthening or threat response.
3. Experience in business planning, financial management, or contract oversight within projects or services, including personal role and impact.

Qualifications and Skills
* Degree/HNC or relevant experience in IT
* Strong management skills with the ability to motivate and develop staff
* Expertise in ITIL, cyber security, and specialist IT areas
* Knowledge of business planning, financial, and contractual management
* Effective stakeholder relationship skills
* Proven project management skills, data analysis, and handling complex projects
Additional Information
This position is only available to Surrey County Council employees. The starting salary is £52,047 per annum for a 36-hour week. We support workforce development and promote internal career growth.
