Birmingham Virtual School is seeking an experienced and highly motivated Education Placement Officer to work alongside families, young people, social care and other local authorities supporting children in care to secure appropriate and timely education provision and school placements.
Responsibilities
This outward‑facing role is responsible for securing in‑year school admission applications and timely submission at the normal admission round application. You will develop and manage key relationships to secure a good or better education placement.
Qualifications & Experience
* Experience working in schools, other educational provisions, or a local authority with knowledge of admissions procedures and an understanding of DfE guidance on school admissions code requirements.
* Experience advocating for children and families.
* Experience working directly with vulnerable young people and families.
* Experience collaborating with senior professionals, multi‑agency partners, and external services supporting children in care.
Additional Requirements
A Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) check will be undertaken. Proof of right to work in the UK will be required for all applicants in accordance with UK Home Office requirements, before any employment offer can be confirmed.
