Consultant Psychiatrist in Adult Learning Disability
Tees Esk and Wear Valleys NHS Foundation Trust
This is a replacement post that has become vacant due to the retirement of the previous Consultant Psychiatrist.
The post is based within the Adult Learning Disability Community Team at North Moor House, Northallerton, covering Hambleton & Richmondshire Districts and Botton Village, a large Camphill Village Trust community in the North York Moors. This service is commissioned by the Humber and North Yorkshire Health and Care Partnership.
Referrals are received in each locality; each team operates a local duty system, triages their referrals, and provides advice and support to referrers. We collaborate with partners including Primary Care, Local Authority, and Voluntary Sector organizations.
Main duties of the job
The postholder's cases will include a keyworker, usually a community nurse. The team is highly regarded locally, with strong collaborative relationships. Services are provided in Hambleton, Richmondshire, and Botton Village, serving approximately 150,000 people. The Consultant conducts clinics at North Moor House and makes home visits as needed. There are good relationships with mental health, CYPS, and Older Person services, which have offices at North Moor House. Regular liaison meetings are held with North Yorkshire Social Services, South Tees Hospitals Acute Liaison Team, and local GP practices.
This is a community-based role. Patients requiring inpatient treatment are admitted under Greenlight arrangements to Adult Mental Health wards or to Learning Disability Assessment and Treatment beds at Bankfields Court, Middlesbrough, managed by inpatient Consultants.
