Aim: To tutor a Y5 learner to maintain education during tribunal process
Location: Worlaby, Brigg, Lincolnshire
Frequency: 3-hours a week
Duration: ongoing
Pay: £35 an hour
Extra info: Not suitable for online tuition.
This learner is currently not attending school whilst going through tribunal process. The aim of tuition is to maintain this learners education during the tribunal process and potentially ongoing until the learner is able to attend school/specialist provision. The learners primary need is SEMH which is directly linked to a diagnoses of ASD, the learner also has a PDA profile.
A focus for this learner will be to initially work on building a relationship, slowly introducing teachable moments through the learners interests. The learner has low confidence in verbal communication, although this has improved, they will often rely on hand gestures (such as thumbs up or down). The learner also presents some auditory processing difficulties impacting ability to take instructions at times. The learner can become distressed by loud noises or certain tones of voice, will take part in loud activities when it's their choice but unexpected sounds may cause distress or overwhelm.
Tuition should support the learners outcomes to be able to attend school and take part in lessons. However, will be focused more on building a trusting relationship by engaging with practical and fun activities in line with the learners interests. This includes animals (has a cat and guinea pigs, loves pets but can form attachments very easily), climbing and parkour, playing games on Switch and Pokémon.
