This is a remote position. This role is based in a South America region on a full-time, onsite basis with a full relocation package provided, including a pension scheme and excellent annual leave benefits. Our client will also consider professionals with a strong oil and gas environmental management background for the position if they are only available to work on a hybrid basis, with regular visits to the South American country. As the Environmental Manager, you will hold responsibility for the environmental oversight of offshore drilling and production activities. This role ensures that all operations are conducted with minimal impact on the marine ecosystem and in full compliance with environmental legislation. Responsibilities Oversee the assessment of environmental statements and oil pollution emergency plans. Manage the environmental inspection programme for offshore vessels and platforms. Act as a lead advisor on marine conservation and environmental mitigation strategies. Liaise with government bodies and environmental agencies to ensure transparency and compliance. Lead the response to any environmental non-compliance or pollution incidents. Requirements Robust experience in environmental management within the energy or offshore sectors. Strong understanding of international environmental standards (e.g., ISO 14001) and marine legislation. Experience in managing teams and overseeing field-based environmental inspectors. Academic background in Environmental Science, Marine Biology, or a related field. Ability to analyse complex data and produce clear regulatory reports.
