The Role We are seeking a motivated and detail-oriented Junior Mechanical Design Engineer to join our experienced design team. This is an excellent opportunity for a recent graduate or early-career engineer looking to build hands-on experience in mechanical design within the machinery and manufacturing industry. Youll assist in developing new products, improving existing designs, and standardising documentation across a range of complex mechanical systems. The role involves 3D modelling, detailed drawing creation, and close collaboration with internal departments to support manufacturing and assembly processes. Key Responsibilities Regenerate and update existing and new drawing formats in the CAD database to standardise and streamline documentation. Assist the design team in improving existing products to enhance quality, cost-efficiency, and assembly performance. Contribute to the design and development of new machines, sub-assemblies, fixtures, and tooling systems. Perform 3D CAD modelling and drafting in Autodesk Inventor, producing detailed drawings for manufactured components and castings. Prepare bills of materials (BOMs), assembly drawings, and other manufacturing documentation. Liaise with production, quality, and procurement teams to ensure smooth project delivery. Candidate Profile Essential: Proficient in 3D CAD design, preferably using Autodesk Inventor. Strong ability to read and interpret engineering drawings accurately. Good understanding of geometric and dimensional tolerancing (GD&T). Relevant qualification such as HNC, HND, or Degree in Mechanical Engineering (or equivalent). Self-motivated and capable of producing accurate, high-quality work to tight deadlines. Desirable: Some prior experience in a machinery design or manufacturing environment. Familiarity with precision engineering or tooling systems. Knowledge of engineering materials and manufacturing processes.
