Geo-Environmental Engineer / Geotechnical EngineerWe are looking for an experienced Geo-Environmental Engineer or Geotechnical Engineer with at least two years post graduate work experience. There is a very flexible approach to location, with the role being a blend of working on sites, working from home when reporting or planning etc, and occasional visits to the office for monthly meetings.You must be able to live and work in the UK without sponsorship or visa/work permit requirements, and a full UK driving licence along with the willingness to travel is essential. An attractive basic salary (commensurate with experience) plus extensive benefits package is on offer to the successful candidate, which includes bonus, pension, healthcare and a fully expensed vehicle.The role will involve confidently managing your own case load of geotechnical and geo-environmental projects from start to finish.
The role requires proactive project management, client communication and providing technical solutions in a fast-paced, deadline driven environment.The PersonA minimum degree in Geology, Civil Engineering, Earth Sciences or a related subject2+ years previous practical or relevant experience, post-graduationKnowledge of ground investigation techniques and BS5930Experience with relevant data management software packagesIT competent in Microsoft packages, and the ability to work independently or with a teamAbility to work effectively to deadlines and under pressureGood attention to detail and accuracy of work, effective planning and organisation skillsA structured approach to problem solving, with excellent written and verbal communicationAwareness of the relevant industry legal and safety regulationsAble to produce factual or interpretive reportsAttention to detail, with experience in compiling critical data from multiple sourcesThe RoleTravelling to meet clients and evaluation of sitesOrganisation of intrusive investigations, including health and safety aspects, and proactively managing and instructing subcontractors and site operationsComplete and/or supervisor site work, e.g., trial pitting, soakage testing, soil logging of trial pits and boreholes to BS5930/Eurocode 7, groundwater/ground-gas monitoringManage the receipt, storage, and preparation of samples for laboratory testing, ensuring compliance with health and safety protocols, internal SLAs and project timelines, dispose of samples in line with internal proceduresProvide a consultative approach to engineering, advising, and recommending solutions through proactive communication with clients, subcontractors and local authorities / EHOsPreparation of Phase 1 Desk Studies and occasionally Flood Risk AssessmentsPhase 2 intrusive investigations - collection of data and report writing, independent preparation of factual and interpretative reports on intrusive investigations, basic foundation design to include calculation of bearing pressures and estimating settlementCarry out qualitative and quantitative contamination risk assessmentsPhase 3 contamination remediation strategies and validation work, including on-site supervision of remediation and carrying out verification reporting of remediationWorking collaboratively with engineers and others to deliver quality workReflect and promote the companys values through your work and conductOur ClientOur client is a market leading consultancy offering the complete suite of geotechnical and geo-environmental services for a wide variety of public and private sector project applications.
