To help us achieve a step change in the way we connect internally and externally, we’re seeking a Research and Innovation Bid Development Officer to support staff to develop their ability to capture external Research & Innovation income. This is a key post that will contribute to the ambitions of the University’s Strategic Plan 2030. You will work with academic and professional services colleagues at all levels and in many cases with external organisations to increase the scale and range of Cardiff Met’s external research and innovation grant successes. You’ll support by: Working with the Knowledge Transfer Programme Manager to develop and deliver an increase in research and innovation income generation, providing advice and support to academic staff and external partners in the development and submission of successful funding applications. Engaging in face-to-face networking as a key aspect of the role, representing the University at external meetings, conferences, and sector events to initiate and build strategic relationships with collaborators and stakeholders. Coordinating and managing the development and submission of high-quality research and innovation bids. Providing advice and robust support to academic staff on the preparation and writing of funding proposals. What you’ll bring With knowledge of effective academic engagement methods and proven organisational, time-management and administrative skills, you’ll have significant research and development experience of working within an academic, funder or business environment, including demonstrable evidence of successful bid writing as part of previous roles. You’ll possess excellent presentation and public speaking skills including face-to-face and online meetings, workshop delivery and presentations. You’ll be able to provide examples of relationship-building and of stakeholder management skills and have the ability to initiate, develop, and sustain productive partnerships. As part of this role, it will be essential for you to: Have at least an undergraduate degree or relevant experience. Be able to interpret complex procedural guidelines and explain them to non-experts. Communicate conceptually detailed and complex information, both orally, digitally, and in writing. Be able to work under time pressure, which is often required during the development and submission of research funding bids. Why join Cardiff Metropolitan University?
