Responsibilities
Personal Assistant required to provide one-to-one companionship and practical support, promoting independence and wellbeing, and assisting with community access such as shopping and local activities. The role will also include providing some support with certain aspects of personal care.
The role involves providing one-to-one support to an individual with a learning disability, she uses a electronic communication aid support. The aim of the role is to promote independence in daily life and social skills. Support will be delivered in a person-centred, respectful, and reliable manner.
You will support and encourage communication. A key part of the role is helping to develop confidence and social skills through positive interaction and meaningful engagement.
The role includes supporting the individual to access the local community, including social activities and going shopping. Encouraging independence. You will encourage and support participation in exercise and physical activities.
The individual requiring support can often miss hazards, providing close supervision to ensure her safety at all times. Additionally when out and about you will need to walk arm in arm with her.
The role will also include providing support with some aspects of social care.
