Offer description

Talented people are the key to our success.

Do you want to play a part in delivering major infrastructure projects while helping to protect and enhance the environment?

We are looking for a proactive Environmental Advisor to support the SSENT Framework, working on key projects including Loch na Cathrach Pumped Storage Hydro and Fasnakyle to Bingally. In this role, you’ll work closely with site and engineering teams to ensure environmental considerations are built into day‑to‑day delivery.

You will play a key role in supporting project delivery by identifying risks, solving environmental challenges, and working closely with site and engineering teams to keep projects safe, compliant, and on programme.

This is an excellent opportunity to develop your skills, someone who enjoys working on site, using data, and solving real world problems within a fast paced infrastructure environment.

What to expect in this role

* Work on live construction sites alongside engineering and delivery teams
* Solve real‑time problems, helping teams find practical solutions on the ground
* Use Excel and data tools to track risks, constraints, and performance
* Play a hands‑on role in keeping projects moving safely and efficiently
* Gain exposure to how major infrastructure projects are built and delivered
* Bring a background from environmental, engineering, construction, or similar disciplines.

Role Responsibilities

* Support compliance with environmental legislation, planning conditions, and permits while helping teams deliver works efficiently
* Work closely with project and engineering teams to provide practical, real‑time advice on site issues
* Monitor site activities to ensure adherence to the CEMP and project controls.
* Engage with clients, regulators, and stakeholders to resolve issues and keep projects progressing
* Carry out inspections, audits, and reporting, using findings to drive improvements and prevent future issues
* Use data, tracking tools, and site insight to identify trends, mitigate risks, and avoid delays to programme.

Skills, Experience and Qualifications

* Degree in environmental, engineering, or related discipline (or equivalent practical experience) and membership of (or working towards) IEMA, CIEEM, or similar (ISEP/PISEP desirable)
* Experience in an environmental role, construction, infrastructure, engineering, or environmental roles within a site‑based environment, within construction, renewable energy, or major infrastructure projects (preferably in Scotland)
* Understanding of environmental requirements and ability to apply them practically on site, (environmental legislation, planning conditions, and SEPA permitting)
* Experience implementing and monitoring CEMP and environmental management systems.
* Strong problem‑solving skills, with the ability to balance environmental requirements with delivery needs
* Confident communicator who can work effectively with project teams, clients, regulators, and stakeholders
* Experience working in complex or constrained environments (environmental sensitivity beneficial)
* Skilled in inspections, audits, and environmental reporting within a SHEQ framework
* Strong IT skills, particularly Excel for tracking, analysing, and reporting data
* Experience using digital systems to support delivery and decision‑making
* GIS knowledge is advantageous.

What is in it for you?

* Generous holiday entitlement with the option to buy five days.
* Flexible and adaptable working
* Family friendly policies and work/life approach
* Mentoring programmes and continuous learning support
* Contributory pension scheme
* Recognition scheme and long service awards
* Car scheme and Private Medical Insurance (if applicable to role)
* We also provide the option to participate in our share‑save scheme; discounts including cycle to work and gym membership; a support and advice service for colleagues and their families, and more.

Morgan Sindall is an equal opportunities employer and has been accredited with the Positive About Disabled People ‘Two Ticks’ accreditation. We are also an Investors in People company.
