Consultant Psychiatrist in Adult Learning Disability
Tees Esk and Wear Valleys NHS Foundation Trust
This is a replacement post that has become vacant due to the retirement of the previous Consultant Psychiatrist.
The post is based within the Adult Learning Disability Community Team at North Moor House, Northallerton, covering Hambleton & Richmondshire Districts and Botton Village, a large Camphill Village Trust community in the North York Moors. This service is commissioned by the Humber and North Yorkshire Health and Care Partnership.
Referrals are received in each locality; each team operates a local duty system, triages referrals, and provides advice and support to referrers. We collaborate with partners including Primary Care, Local Authority, and various Voluntary Sector organizations.
Main duties of the job
The postholder's cases will also have a keyworker from the team, typically a community nurse. The team is highly regarded by local statutory and third sector partners, with a strong history of collaborative working. Services are provided in Hambleton, Richmondshire, and Botton Village, serving approximately 150,000 people. The Consultant conducts clinics at North Moor House and performs home visits as needed. There are good relationships with local mental health, CYPS, and Older Person services, all based at North Moor House. Regular liaison meetings are held with North Yorkshire Social Services, the South Tees Hospitals Acute Liaison Team, and local GP practices.
This is a community-based post. Patients requiring inpatient treatment are admitted under Greenlight arrangements to Adult Mental Health wards, with access to Learning Disability Assessment and Treatment beds at Bankfields Court, Middlesbrough, part of TEWV services. RC responsibilities are managed by inpatient Consultants.
