This is a fantastic opportunity for someone to join a small but ambitious User Centred Design team as a Senior Service Designer.
North Lincolnshire Council are committed to User Centred Design as a profession, by creating a dedicated team, and now we need additional Service Design capacity and capability to support our transformation goals for the future.
We want User Centred Design to grow and mature within the organisation, to have a greater positive impact on outcomes for our residents, businesses and visitors.
We’re looking for candidates with proven professional experience of working as a service designer, or in a similar role, using User Centred Design techniques and applying Agile development principles.
You will need to be able to demonstrate your experience of the full project lifecycle from Discovery through to implementation.
You will lead the design of products and services that meet the needs of service users and improve their experience.
This will include:
• working with a Senior User Researcher to plan and deliver research that helps us understand an end-to-end service, the context and the challenges faced by users and colleagues.
• using your knowledge, experience, creativity and collaboration skills to help multi-disciplinary teams design better services and transactions.
• creating clear visualisations and compelling evidence-based narratives to aid decision-making.
• designing, prototyping and testing potential solutions, and iterating designs based on feedback.
• helping stakeholders understand the value of User-Centred Design by showing how its methods lead to actionable insights and better solutions for the people who use them.
• helping the User Centred Design team refine and improve our design research practice.
You will be based at Church Square House in Scunthorpe, DN15 6NL. We offer a hybrid working model, which means you would be expected to spend some time in the office and some time working from home. Specific arrangements can be discussed. You will report to the User Centred Design Specialist and may in future manage other designers and/or an apprentice.
