NHS Forth Valley
Clinical support worker
Posted: 18 December
Offer description

As part of the ongoing commitment to improving patient care and access to services we are redesigning our Hepatology screening pathway.

This role is an exciting opportunity for the right individuals to deliver health screening to our patients who are at risk of developing life limiting complications because of their Liver Disease. Health Screening allows for complications to picked up and managed at a much earlier stage, resulting in broader treatment options and improved outcomes for the individual.

Working with an experienced and dynamic team in the Hepatology department and delivering the service on an Outpatient, Ambulatory model we aim to ensure equity of access and service to individuals across the Forth Valley area. You will have the responsibility of managing the clinical aspects of the screening on a day-to-day basis.

You need to be reliable and have a positive attitude; you are representing our service and individuals accessing the service must have confidence in your appearance and your values with the ability to communicate in a professional but empathetic manner to a group of individuals who are often met with judgement and prejudice.

You should demonstrate excellent interpersonal and communication skills. You will need to adapt to unpredictable workloads and be flexible to the needs of the service. Work pattern will be varied with an expectation to work over 7 days, evening and weekends. Ability and willingness to travel throughout the area of service delivery is essential for this post.

You will need to have demonstrated competency in the extended skills required for this role e.g., Fibro Scanning, phlebotomy skills, be able to check BP, perform examine injection sites and have knowledge of TRAK and ordercomms. Although all these skills are desirable, they are not essential as training will be given. Knowledge of Gastroenterology and experience of working within an ambulatory or Outpatient setting would be advantageous. Good IT and Literacy skills are essential.

Previous experience in health care setting would be advantageous, but individuals with a keen interest and potential, will also be considered.
