Are you enthusiastic, customer‑focused, and passionate about providing high‑quality catering services? We are looking for a Catering Kitchen Assistant to join our busy catering team, supporting food preparation, service, and the smooth running of our on‑site facilities. You will play an essential role in delivering an excellent experience to students, staff, and visitors, while maintaining high standards of food hygiene and customer service.
Actual Salary: £18,627.57 - £19,141.54 per annum
Essential Criteria
1. Relevant Food Hygiene qualification, or willingness to work towards one.
2. Recent and relevant experience in a similar role, or experience aligned to the duties of the post.
3. Experience in customer service and/or cash handling.
4. Experience of food preparation, cooking, and service.
5. Friendly, professional manner with strong communication and teamwork skills.
Key Responsibilities
6. Assist with the preparation of food, snacks, and drinks within the on‑site catering facilities.
7. Maintain clean and tidy kitchen and dining areas, ensuring high food hygiene standards at all times.
8. Provide prompt, efficient, and customer‑focused service, maintaining visibility and approachability during service periods.
9. Support the Production Chef and work collaboratively as an active member of the catering team.
10. Accurately complete Safer Food, Better Business (SFBB) documentation.
11. Report customer requests and complaints promptly to the Front of House Manager or Production Chef.
12. Work flexibly across any College site to meet business needs, including events and breakfast service.
13. Undertake mandatory training and participate positively in appraisal and personal development processes.
14. Support students on placement within the catering environment.
15. Contribute to departmental self‑assessment and overall service improvement.

Additional Information

This role is for 30 hours per week - 38 weeks per year worked across 5 days, with flexibility required to support business needs including events and breakfast service.

The LET’s Bloom Programme aims to connect our experienced and qualified teachers to share best practice and support continued risk-taking as we continue to add depth to our teaching craft. Teachers volunteer on this one year programme, working closely with the Learning Enhancement Team, capturing their experimentation in a journal.
