Job Opportunity
We are looking for an Associate Underwriter to support the Underwriting leaders in managing the profitability of the Marine Cargo book by underwriting and processing new business, renewals and mid-term adjustments, and monitoring rate adequacy of all business written or handled.
Travelers Europe currently offers flexibility to employees who wish to work on a hybrid basis in accordance with our Hybrid Work Arrangements Policy. This entails full-time employees working three days a week in the office and two days at home (or pro-rata for part-time employees). This policy may be changed at the Company’s discretion.
What Will You Do?
* Support the overall profitability, growth, and retention of the Line of Business and related underwriting initiatives.
* Ensure business is written in accordance with the Company's policies, procedures, and controls, including audit requirements, and adhere to Lloyds Underwriting Management Standards.
* Support the development of assigned Lines of Business, including researching target markets, competitor info, and industry factors.
* Utilize systems to accurately enter quotes, risks, and endorsements for proper reporting.
* Gather data and prepare reports to support underwriting policies.
* Monitor market factors and global affairs for new opportunities.
* Promote Travelers' underwriting philosophy and build strong relationships with agents, brokers, and customers.
* Provide guidance, mentoring, and coaching as appropriate.
* Act in accordance with Travelers' Code of Business Conduct and Ethics, and comply with all legal and regulatory requirements.
* Deliver high-quality service to brokers and customers.
* Develop and maintain relationships with key stakeholders.
* Adhere to company policies and keep records of all transactions.
* Seek continuous improvement personally and professionally.
* Perform other duties as assigned.
What Will Our Ideal Candidate Have?
* Experience in Lloyd's market preferred, with understanding of market factors.
* Underwriting experience preferred.
* Degree preferred.
* Emerging technical proficiency and application of underwriting knowledge.
* Ability to make sound quoting and pricing decisions.
* Intermediate skills in judgment, decision-making, communication, and teamwork.
* Relationship management skills.
* Analytical thinking and financial acumen.
* Technical proficiency in underwriting practices.
* Understanding of internal and external market factors.
* Studying towards ACII qualification is expected.
Must Have
* Previous Property and Casualty insurance experience.
* Secondary education or equivalent.
