The team consists of two Environmental Health Officers, two Housing Enforcement Officers and a Trainee Housing Enforcement Officer, who work to support the Team Leader (Private Sector Housing) in enforcing a wide range of legislative requirements in the area of private sector housing. This includes the investigation of complaints of poor housing conditions and undertaking inspections of private sector housing to assess potential hazards and carrying out any follow up or enforcement to bring the property to current standards. In addition, the team license Houses in Multiple Occupation and undertake work to bring empty properties in the borough back into use. There will be a requirement during the fixed term contract to also assist Greater Manchester Fire and Rescue Service (GMFRS) in the remediation of problematic high-rise buildings within the borough, where required. This role offers the flexibility of hot desking / home working together with field based work. About you You will have: A minimum of 12 months experience working in a housing related field a nd specialist knowledge relating to private sector housing enforcement; Experience of undertaking investigation work, using your knowledge of investigation techniques and legal processes; Experience of preparing and presenting reports; The ability to prioritise work and manage a busy workload and deliver to tight deadlines; A passion and pride in your work; and Excellent written and communication skills. Band 6 Educated to minimum A Level standard or equivalent; and Evidence of a previous and ongoing commitment to developing their own professional competencies. Band 7 (inclusive of the above) Degree level qualification in Environmental Health / Housing (or similar); and Certificate of competency in the application of HHSRS (Housing Health & Safety Rating System).
