Job Description POST: Trainee Planner REPORTS TO: Senior Planner DEPARTMENT: Planning ROLE DEFINITION The Trainee Planner will support the Senior Planner in reporting updating, monitoring, and maintaining project schedules / project programmes to support the successful delivery of Phoenix ME's construction projects. Working closely with the Operational and Commercial teams, the Trainee Planner role focuses on learning planning principles, assisting with programme development and updates, and supporting senior planners and project teams to ensure MEP works are correctly sequenced, tracked, and reported. This is a development role with structured supervision, training, and progression, as such the Trainee Planner will be supported in their role by a Senior Planner and/or the Head of Planning. KEY RESPONSIBILITIES Assist in the preparation and updating of MEP construction programmes under supervision. Input activity updates into planning software (e.g. Asta Powerproject, Primavera P6, MS Project). Maintain accurate records of site progress, constraints, and key dates. Conduct site walks to obtain progress from active construction works with Senior Planners or site team. Attend programme and progress meetings and produce meeting notes when required. Monitor progress against baseline schedules and update programmes accordingly Produce lookahead schedules, progress reports, and critical path analysis Identify and communicate potential delays or risks Identify and manage interfaces between MEP systems (HVAC, electrical, public health, fire, controls). Maintain programme quality and ensure compliance with planning standards and project procedures. Coordinate with procurement and commercial teams to align delivery schedules with project timelines Maintain accurate records of programme changes with the Senior Planner. Maintain an up-to-date AsBuilt programme. PERSON SPECIFICATION Essential Desirable GCSEs or equivalent, including Maths and English x Good communication skills and confidence working on construction sites. x Interest in construction planning and MEP works. x Good numerical, written and spoken English competency, organisational, and IT skills. x Strong understanding of construction sequencing, resource planning, and project controls x Willingness to learn planning software and industry standards. x Exposure to construction sites or MEP contractors. x Basic knowledge of programmes, schedules, or project controls. x Familiarity with construction terminology specific to MEP works. x This job description is intended to describe the general nature and level of work being performed.
