Overview
We are looking for a Band 5 Mental Health Nurse to join NHS Greater Glasgow and Clyde as a full‑time permanent contract. The role is based in Balmore ward, an 18‑bedded organic assessment ward at Leverndale Hospital. Shift patterns are Monday‑Sunday, 12.33‑hour shifts with a rotational day/night schedule.
Responsibilities
* Work as part of a multi‑disciplinary team within an inpatient ward environment.
* Assess patient care needs and develop and evaluate programmes of care.
* Deliver all relevant forms of care in partnership with patients, carers and other professionals, following agreed standards and clinical policies.
* Take charge of the ward, supervise and teach junior staff (both qualified and unqualified).
* Mentor nurses undergoing basic or post‑basic training.
* Practice within the legal and ethical framework as defined by the Nursing & Midwifery Council Code of Professional Conduct, national mental health legislation, and local policy, guidelines and protocols.
Requirements
* Valid NMC UK pin (must be live).
* Experience as a registered nurse with a minimum of three years in a mental health inpatient setting is strongly preferred.
* Excellent clinical skills, good communication and organisational abilities.
* Ability to work flexible shifts, including nights and weekends.
* Demonstrated knowledge of current best practice in mental health nursing.
