Job Title: Technical Systems Engineer
Location: Spondon, Derby
Contract Hours: 42 hours per week
Shift Pattern: You’ll work 5 shifts each week on a rotating schedule (Monday–Sunday), which includes a mix of day, night and weekend shifts. Night shifts are paid at an enhanced rate.

Overview:
Our team’s mission is to provide first-level support for all fulfillment systems (including WMS, WCS) at our automated production site in Derby, with occasional support at our DE facility in Barleben. As part of a new warehouse software implementation team, you will work cross-functionally with key stakeholders to ensure smooth and efficient warehouse operations. You will serve as the first point of contact for system-related inquiries as well as develop and maintain automated test cases.
What You Will Be Doing:
13. Provide real-time support for our Warehouse Control System (WCS) and Warehouse Management System (WMS)
14. Identify opportunities for operational improvement, recommend and implement change controls, and define local reporting requirements
15. Develop dashboards to enable system analysis and monitoring
16. Continuously evaluate software systems, driving improvements through enhancements or change requests
17. Coordinate with suppliers and internal development teams to resolve critical system issues
18. Create and maintain work instructions, standard operating procedures, and training materials for WMS and WCS
19. Ensure comprehensive reporting structures are in place to support operational transparency
20. Participate in code reviews for automation quality & maintainability
21. Developing and maintaining automated test cases
Who You Are:
22. Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Business Informatics, Engineering, or equivalent professional experience
23. Solid understanding of supply chain processes and supporting technologies
24. Demonstrated interest in process optimization and continuous improvement initiatives
25. Highly organized, self-motivated, and able to manage tasks independently while consistently meeting deadlines
26. Interest in AI-assisted engineering tools, automation, or data analysis
27. Some exposure to debugging, log analysis, or quality-related workflows
28. Proficiency in object oriented programming languages (e.g. Java)
29. Foundational knowledge of quality assurance, basic test automation, and modern testing practices.
Technical skills:
30. DevOps practices

32. Problem-solving in operational environments
33. Python scripting
34. Proficiency in integrating automated tests into CI/CD pipelines (e.g. Jenkins, GitLab)
35. Has understanding of all the contemporary technology trends: Agile, DevOps, Containers and has the ability to integrate testing automation into overall delivery automation.
36. SQL database querying
37. WCS/WCS engineering experience
