As our Project Manager, you’ll play a central role in leading and delivering COOMBES Civils works. You’ll guide your teams, support your colleagues and ensure our projects run safely, smoothly and to a high standard from start to finish. This is a role where your leadership, communication and problem solving skills will have a real impact every day.
In this role, you’ll:
* Lead and coordinate project review meetings with stakeholders, keeping everyone updated on delivery milestones, progress, risks, resources, budgets and outputs.
* Manage and support both direct labour teams and subcontractors to ensure all works are delivered safely, efficiently and with minimal environmental impact.
* Support the preparation of PQQs, bids and tenders — including accurate pricing, cost control and commercial forecasting — to set projects up for commercial success.
* Take the lead on the operational aspects of your projects, including developing and overseeing CPPs, QMPs, EMPs and SWPs.
* Act as Responsible Manager and CRE on assigned projects, ensuring compliance and oversight across all technical and safety requirements.
We’d love to hear from you if you have:
* Practical, hands on experience within the Civil Engineering sector.
* Proven experience managing and tracking contracts from tender through to completion.
* A strong understanding of CRE responsibilities and SHEQ duties.
* Excellent working knowledge of CDM regulations.
* A recognised site safety management qualification (SMSTS or equivalent).
* A track record of successfully managing delivery teams.
* Experience in the commercial management of contracts and subcontractors.
* Solid knowledge of project management principles, methods and tools.
* Strong understanding and application of HSE practices.
What we’re looking for:
We’re looking for someone who brings confidence, clarity and organisation to every project — a leader who enjoys working with people and driving safe, successful outcomes.
You’re likely to be someone who:
* Is proactive and organised, with the ability to juggle multiple project demands and keep things moving smoothly.
* Communicates clearly and builds strong, positive relationships with clients, colleagues and stakeholders.
* Takes pride in high quality delivery and has a great eye for detail.
* Leads by example — inspiring teams, addressing challenges and ensuring safe, efficient operations.
* Thinks ahead, solves problems and makes sound decisions under pressure.
* Brings a professional, approachable style that helps build trust and collaboration across the team.
What you can expect from us:
* Competitive basic salary, reviewed annually.
* Company branded vehicle.
* Annual performance related bonus.
* Company pension scheme.
* Employee Assistance Programme offering wellbeing, legal and financial support.
* 24/7 online GP access for you and your family.
* A range of retail, leisure and lifestyle discounts.
* Regular social events, including our Summer Family Day and COOMBESmas celebration.
* Length of service awards.
* Opportunities to contribute to our Social Value work through volunteering and fundraising.
