This pivotal role is designed for someone who thrives on supporting engineering functions and ensuring the seamless procurement of goods and services across the business. As a key member of the Group Procurement function, you will play an essential part in maintaining operational continuity and asset availability, working closely with stakeholders to help them achieve their objectives. The organisation is committed to fostering an inclusive, respectful, and supportive environment where your contributions are valued, and your professional growth is encouraged. With generous holiday entitlement, a matched contribution pension scheme, flexible benefits, and access to fully funded professional training, this position offers not only career progression but also a comprehensive package that supports your well-being and personal development. What you'll do: Procure parts, materials, equipment, and services in strict accordance with established procurement policies and procedures to ensure the timely supply needed for engineering operations. Place purchase orders efficiently and track them through to delivery while ensuring all goods are received on time and meet required specifications. Maintain excellent relationships with suppliers by conducting regular reviews and negotiating agreements that secure value for money as well as reliable service performance. Support the development and monitoring of supplier Key Performance Indicators (KPIs), focusing on service quality, cost control measures, and prompt delivery timelines. Work closely with internal stakeholders to understand their requirements thoroughly and provide tailored procurement solutions that reduce lead times and overall costs. Address invoice discrepancies, resolve delivery issues promptly, and respond effectively to procurement queries from both internal teams and external partners. Contribute actively to cost-saving initiatives by participating in stock control strategies and optimising supply chain processes for greater efficiency. Maintain accurate records using SAP and Excel systems to support robust reporting practices and ensure audit compliance at all times. Uphold high standards in Environmental Health & Safety (EHS) by championing safe supplier practices throughout the procurement process. Demonstrate a commitment to Equality, Diversity & Inclusion (ED&I) by fostering a respectful culture that values fairness and inclusivity in every aspect of your work. What you bring: Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to communicate clearly and build effective working relationships across diverse teams. High attention to detail combined with excellent organisational abilities that enable you to prioritise multiple tasks within tight deadlines. Experience working independently as well as collaboratively within a team-oriented environment where shared goals are paramount. A customer-focused mindset that ensures you deliver responsive procurement support tailored to the needs of engineering or operational teams. Proficiency in using SAP or other ERP systems for managing purchase orders, inventory control, or supplier performance data. Advanced Excel skills including VLOOKUPs, pivot tables, and data manipulation techniques for accurate record-keeping and reporting purposes. Prior experience in purchasing or procurement environments - ideally supporting Engineering or Operations functions-is desirable but not essential. A commercial outlook paired with problem-solving abilities that allow you to identify opportunities for cost savings or process improvements. Full UK driving licence with access to a vehicle is required due to occasional travel between sites for stakeholder engagement purposes. Minimum GCSE (or equivalent) pass in English and Maths demonstrating foundational academic achievement. What sets this company apart: This organisation stands out as an employer of choice thanks to its unwavering commitment towards creating an inclusive workplace where diversity is celebrated at every level. Employees benefit from generous annual leave entitlements plus bank holidays - ensuring ample time away from work for rest or family commitments-as well as a matched contribution pension scheme that supports long-term financial security. The flexible benefits platform allows you to tailor perks such as healthcare cash plans, salary sacrifice car schemes, critical illness insurance coverage, gym memberships, retail vouchers - and more - to suit your individual lifestyle needs. Professional growth is actively encouraged through access to fully funded CIPS training programmes along with broader personal development opportunities so you can continue expanding your skillset over time.
