Wood is currently looking for a Principal Alarm Management Engineer to join our System Integration (SI) team within out Digital Consulting business supporting across our UK projects.

This is a hybrid role that can be based at any of the following UK offices: Aberdeen, Staines, Reading, Glasgow or Northampton with the expectation of travel as required.

Applicants must be able to pass HMG Baseline Personnel Security Standard (BPSS) check.

The Role

The Principal Alarm Management Engineer is responsible for managing the full alarm system lifecycle—aligned with ISA‑18.2, EEMUA 191, and IEC 62682—including creating or reviewing the Alarm Philosophy and master alarm database, chairing rationalization workshops, designing and improving alarm systems to reduce nuisance alarms, and conducting regular compliance audits using Excel tools or bespoke software.

Expected:

9. Bachelor’s degree in engineering or equivalent applicable demonstratable experience
10. TUV FS Engineer certificate or equivalent
11. Alarm Management Practitioner certificate
12. Significant experience in EPC/MAC/plant operations, specifically in process or automation & control systems within the oil & gas, hydrocarbon, refinery, offshore, or infrastructure sectors
13. Ability to prioritise tasks effectively to manage multiple projects running concurrently
14. Experience in brownfield upgrades/replacement of automation and control systems projects
15. Stay updated on the latest industry developments
16. Understanding of commercial aspects as related to projects and operations
17. Excellent communication abilities, with enthusiasm and diplomacy in interactions
18. Inquisitive, well organised, and have a keen eye for detail
19. Ability to work effectively in an integrated team environment, supporting colleagues and fostering trust and respect within the team

Desirable:

20. Chartered Engineer and member of appropriate engineering institution
21. Knowledge of ISO 21789 and performance of gas turbine safety assessment review
22. Compressor Station / Metering experience is advantageous
23. Knowledge of IEC 62443 and cybersecurity as applicable to functional safety
