Overview
The role is Shift Leader at Tesco. Availability and hours are scheduled within the weekly availability window, with 3 weeks’ notice of shifts. We are flexible if available times closely match but not exactly as advertised.
Pay: Our Shift Leader rate starts from £14.76 per hour, increasing to £15.97 per hour for stores inside the M25. Additional payments may apply depending on location.
It’s our policy to offer new colleagues a minimum of 16 guaranteed hours each week, with options to work a minimum of 12 hours if desired.

Responsibilities
* Work in a fast-paced retail environment with variety
* Take ownership of running duty shifts and coordinate the team to deliver a clean, well-stocked store that exceeds customer expectations
* Be there for customers, listening to them and helping them leave the store with what they came for
* Look for ways to improve service, including coaching colleagues and giving feedback to the team
* Guide and support colleagues in-store, ensuring it stays a safe place to work and shop
* Maintain a good understanding of store performance and assist managers in delivering actions to improve operations
* Lead from the front and set a positive example for colleagues
* Coordinate the store team to deliver an easy, fuss-free shopping experience
* Support colleagues in delivering daily priorities and taking regular breaks
* Open and close the store, complete duty cover, and make safety-focused decisions
* Be the go-to person for day-to-day queries when a manager is absent
* Keep the store clean, tidy, and well-presented
* Support managers to coordinate seasonal, community, and charity events
* Contribute to a great, inclusive team atmosphere and provide excellent customer service
* Keep the team informed and up to speed on communications, changes, or updates
* Stay knowledgeable about store performance and look for ways to improve operations
* Coordinate store improvements and remove obstacles to great service
* Follow health and safety routines and ensure colleagues do the same
* Recognise and celebrate colleagues providing great service
* Be a role model by delivering thoughtful customer service that meets customers’ needs
* Build strong, long-lasting relationships with colleagues to foster a positive team atmosphere
* Communicate clearly using a variety of methods to keep the team informed
* Be comfortable taking the lead and overseeing the store in the absence of the Manager
* Make good decisions and be flexible in thinking to serve customers and colleagues
* Be motivating to inspire the team to deliver beyond expectations
* Be curious and seek ideas to serve customers, communities, and the planet
