M&E Quantity Surveyor / Mechanical QS We’re on the hunt for an experienced Mechanical Quantity Surveyor to join a high-performing project team in Oxfordshire. This isn’t your average QS role—you’ll be driving cost strategy on a complex, £50m project in the advanced manufacturing and life sciences sector. The Role: You’ll take the reins on end-to-end cost management—budgeting, forecasting, contract wrangling, and making sure everything adds up (literally). Working closely with the Regional Commercial Lead, you’ll steer mechanical package procurement, manage JCT D&B contracts, and be the calm voice in a sea of cost reports, risk registers, and change controls. As well as mentoring junior team members too— What You’ll Be Doing: * Cost Management – Cost plans, CVRs, forecasts. You’ll keep mechanical budgets on track and surprises to a minimum. * Subcontractor Evaluation – Lead mechanical package procurement and squeeze value from every pound spent. * Risk & Change Control – Maintain the risk register, handle project changes, and keep everyone honest. * Contract Admin – NEC, JCT, or whatever acronym the client throws—review, negotiate, and manage. * Supply Chain Management – Prequal, procure, and partner with local, reliable mechanical subcontractors. * Collaboration – Work closely with project leads and clients to deliver smoothly and smartly. You’ll excel in this role if you: * Have a degree in Quantity Surveying or similar (extra credit for RICS/CIOB letters after your name) * Know your way around JCT D&B and NEC contracts like the back of your hand * Have solid mechanical services experience—you understand pipework, plantrooms, and pressure testing more than just on paper * Enjoy mentoring and bringing others up with you * Are fluent in Excel and can hold your own in SAP, COINS, ORACLE, CostX, Bluebeam, or PowerBI You’ll work on cutting-edge projects with a team that’s smart, driven, and not afraid of a challenge.
