Description Job Title: Temperature & FPI Service Cell Supervisor Direct Report to: Fluke Service UK Lab Manager. Special Relationships: Head / Deputy Head of Laboratory, Calibration Technicians, UKAS Signatories, Norwich & Eindhoven Service Desks, Customer Service Supervisor, UK Lab Admin Team. Summary of Main Purpose of Role: The main purpose of this role is to take full ownership of the Temperature and FPI cells, overseeing both the daily operations and long-term planning to ensure smooth execution. It involves managing the team at the cell level to maintain motivation and drive performance, while consistently meeting key performance indicators and exceeding deadlines where possible. In addition, the role supports the Head of Laboratory with technical aspects of the temperature calibration service for both internal and external clients. It also contributes to maintaining UKAS accreditation and other relevant certifications, and plays a key role in developing metrological policy under the guidance of the Head of Laboratory, offering support on metrology-related matters. Duties and Responsibilities: Administrative: Ensure that a ‘Daily Backlog report’ is generated and details all jobs that are either overdue or will be overdue in the next 5 days and is distributed to all Laboratory Staff. Provide guidance and assistance in prioritizing workload through the lab. Ensure prioritization of any overdue jobs and if necessary, chase these jobs to ensure completion. Administer clocking via E-Time (ADP) for all directly reporting Laboratory Staff members. Attend the Daily Management meetings with the SSO UK LAB Manager and report back any relevant information to the Laboratory Staff. At least twice a week, regular cadenced Daily Management meeting with all laboratory staff. Once a month carry out a 1:1 meeting with all directly reporting Laboratory Staff members. Once a year carry out ‘Personal Appraisals’ with all directly reporting Laboratory Staff members. Ensure all Laboratory Staff members attend the AEM (All Employee Meetings) either in person or via a Teams call and ensure any Laboratory Staff members unable to attend are either informed of any important information or catch by watching the recorded version of the AEM. Carry out ‘Return to Work’ interviews on all directly reporting Laboratory Staff members who have taken off days due to illness. Carry out any minor disciplinary actions required, e.g. anything that constitutes a verbal notification/warning. (Any other forms of disciplinary action need to be carried out in conjunction with HR and Lab Manager). Planning, organising and control: To operate a calibration record system showing status of all Standards, calibration and test equipment as required. Liaise with other departments to ensure that the equipment is calibrated at the correct intervals. Deputise for Head of Laboratory on UKAS and other certification (or related) matters. Staffing: Training: Assist in the identification and implementation of cost-effective training for continual self-development. Assist in the ongoing training of laboratory staff as required. The job holder will be part of a small team responsible for maintaining and disseminating the various standards throughout the company. In addition, he or she will be expected to assist in various other duties as may be required in the interest of maintaining efficiency within the department. Notify and implement cost effective training for both self-development and development for subordinates, where relevant. Communication To ensure all activities within the scope of the above duties are regularly reported to the Lab Manager, Head of Laboratory (technical) and other relevant staff. To provide regular communications to UKAS signatories on all pertinent matters. To provide regular communications to Calibration Technicians on all pertinent matters. General Ensure all work carried out within the Laboratory is performed with an emphasis on quality. Always strive to work efficiently & effectively, and no rush work or cut corners. Abide by all Company Policies (as covered by the Company/Employee/Policy Handbook, Fortive Code of Conduct and Company Ethos). Ensure that all activities are undertaken impartially and ensure that all activities are structured and managed as to safeguard impartially. Ensure that all information obtained or created during the daily processes is regarded as confidential, this includes all customer details and information, as well as details of any calibration work carried out for the customer. Adherence to the 5S culture in its full and true essence is must to ensure not only a safe, accident-free environment for all staff members but also to ensure efficient and quick turn-around for customers.
