Job Description
As Senior Key Account Manager in Energy Generation, you will take a sector‑leading role in shaping how Fugro partners with the region’s most influential renewable‑energy developers. You will be the driving force behind our engagement across offshore wind, pumped hydro storage, tidal energy, and emerging generation technologies, translating market direction and strategic priorities into decisive, high‑impact client action. As the recognised sector lead, you will guide how Fugro positions itself in a rapidly evolving energy landscape, ensuring our capabilities, innovations, and insights directly support the long‑term ambitions of major energy producers.
This role places you at the forefront of the regional energy‑generation market, where you will lead multidisciplinary account teams, influence senior‑level decision‑makers, and steer the commercial strategy that underpins growth across multiple countries. You will champion a coordinated, intelligence‑driven approach to client engagement, strengthening Fugro’s reputation as the trusted partner of choice for complex renewable‑energy projects. As the sector lead, you will shape market understanding, drive innovation uptake, and play a central role in defining how Fugro supports the next generation of clean‑energy infrastructure.
Your role and responsibilities:
1. Lead and coordinate all key client account activities across the regional energy‑generation market, building long‑term relationships with senior stakeholders in offshore wind, pumped hydro storage, tidal energy, and emerging renewable sectors.
2. Maintain a deep understanding of client priorities, market dynamics, and sector developments, using these insights to position Fugro as the trusted partner of choice.
3. Drive a structured “zipper” engagement model to connect Fugro and client counterparts at multiple organisational levels, strengthening communication, client intimacy, and early visibility of opportunities.
4. Develop clear, actionable account plans aligned with corporate strategy and regional business objectives, prioritising clients and opportunities based on strategic relevance.
5. Facilitate intelligence sharing across the organisation, acting as the focal point for all account‑related communication and ensuring coordinated execution of market‑segment strategies.
6. Collaborate with the Offshore Wind Strategy Manager and regional commercial leadership to translate strategic priorities into targeted client engagement and business development activity.
7. Gather and share client feedback, support issue resolution, and contribute to proposal strategies, framework development, and contractual reviews.
8. Maintain CRM accuracy by ensuring key contacts, opportunities, and project information are consistently updated in collaboration with business development and commercial teams.
9. Represent Fugro at industry events to strengthen sector presence, build relationships, and stay informed on market developments.
10. Work with solution owners to drive innovation uptake by linking client needs to new technologies, early‑stage concepts, and trial opportunities.
11. Increase awarded revenue, improve win rates, expand wallet share, and strengthen market intelligence across the energy‑generation sector.
12. Maintain strong relationships with project managers throughout project delivery, participating in kick‑off and lessons‑learned meetings to support continuous improvement and client satisfaction.
What you’ll need to thrive in this role
13. Bachelor’s degree in a technical, business, marketing, or related discipline, with a strong grounding in the energy‑generation sector, particularly renewables.
14. Experience in commercial roles such as Key Account Management or Business Development, with deep, demonstrable knowledge of energy‑sector clients, especially within offshore wind and other renewable‑generation markets.
15. Management experience in roles such as Commercial Manager, Business Development Manager, or Key Account Manager, ideally within the renewable‑energy industry.
16. Proven ability to communicate effectively with senior stakeholders, influence decision‑making, and drive sustainable commercial results in complex energy‑sector environments.
17. Strong capability in strategic thinking, client engagement, and operational excellence, with a track record of delivering growth in energy‑generation markets.
18. Proficiency in English, with the ability to operate confidently in a multinational, multi‑stakeholder environment.
19. Experience using tools such as Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Teams, Dynamics 365, and Power BI, with a preference for candidates who have applied these in an energy‑sector commercial context.
