About the Role Cheshire Fire and Rescue Service is looking for a Head of Finance to join its Service Leadership Team in a pivotal, high-impact role.
As Head of Finance, youll report directly to the Chief Fire Officer and Chief Executive, taking ownership of financial strategy, governance, and long-term sustainability. This is a key leadership position where the Head of Finance will influence major decisions and help steer the organisation through a complex financial landscape.
What Youll Be Doing Lead a high-performing finance and treasury function
Act as principal financial advisor to the Service and Fire Authority
Ensure delivery of a balanced budget and oversee reserves, capital, and treasury strategies
Drive financial sustainability and value for money across the organisation
Provide strategic insight and challenge at senior leadership level
Oversee additional strategic functions as required
About You Were looking for a commercially minded and adaptable Head of Finance with strong leadership credentials.
Youll bring:
A proven track record in senior finance leadership
Experience driving efficiencies and delivering value for money
Strong financial governance and strategic planning expertise
Ability to communicate complex financial information clearly
Confidence to challenge, influence, and lead change
Public sector experience is desirable but not essential if you can demonstrate transferable impact.
