KPMG’s Major Projects Advisory (MPA) team works with industry-leading organisations, helping to solve some of the biggest challenges in infrastructure. We deliver lasting results on projects and programmes across the transport, power and utilities, social infrastructure and government sectors in the UK and internationally.
What you’ll be doing
This role is for an innovative professional at manager level who can work with our team to apply planning, scheduling and project controls experience to complex infrastructure projects. You’ll be client-facing, responsible for delivering tailored solutions, and for managing important client relationships. You’ll apply your experience daily to bring projects to life and help drive delivery.
Responsibilities include:
* Applying planning, scheduling and project controls to major projects and programmes
* Leading and managing tasks such as monitoring, reporting, scheduling, cost control, risk management, change control and opportunities for improvement
* Developing and implementing project controls best practices
* Advising clients (from a consultancy, advisory or government background) and working in a collaborative, cross-functional environment
* Delivering tools and reporting for Project Controls and supporting project performance monitoring and assurance
* Identifying risks and opportunities and maintaining strong client relationships
* Communicating findings effectively and building networks across the firm
* Continuing to learn and develop new skills within planning and project controls
What you’ll need to do it
* Strong post-qualification planning and project controls experience, primarily in planning, scheduling and project controls for major infrastructure projects
* Experience in leading and managing tasks across monitoring, reporting, scheduling, cost control, risk management, change control, and related areas
* Experience in a consulting environment or advising clients in industry, government or a consultancy setting
* Experience in major projects and programmes in infrastructure (transport, defence, power and utilities, or nuclear)
* Familiarity with delivering major projects in the UK public sector
* Experience in leading teams and applying project and programme controls with a passion for the discipline
* Experience with earned value management in line with national standards
* Ability to develop tools and reporting for Project Controls
* Risk identification and analysis, performance monitoring and assurance
* Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to build relationships and network across the firm
* Strong communication and presentation skills
* Willingness to learn and develop new skills within planning and project controls
