Job overview
Me First sits in the Multidisciplinary Training and Education portfolio within the GOSH Learning Academy (GLA). The overall objective supports the NICE advice guidelines to optimise babies, children, and young people’s experiences of health care (2021).
The Me first training project aims to enhance communication and shared decision making between children, young people (CYP) and health and social care staff of all levels of training and experience.
Unique communication models to support conversations have been co-produced with CYP, families and professionals and are introduced and practised through interactive training modules. Me first also has a website with a wealth of free resources to support conversations.
The courses, “Me first Fundamentals” and “Conversations about Transition” have been endorsed by the Burdett Trust to support the communication training requirements to fulfil the National Transition Competency Training Framework.
You will work as an integral member of the GLA, working closely with the Me first team. The Practice Educator will deliver training, support on-going learning, and further develop the Me first project. The role is based at GOSH and will also work collaboratively with project partners and external organisations and networks to continue to develop the Me First project.

Working for our organisation
We are keen to make our workforce as diverse as the communities we serve, and we hope to attract applications from underrepresented groups, including people with Black, Asian and Minority Ethnic heritage, people with a disability, and people from LGBTQ+ communities. By growing an ever more diverse workforce, we’ll have a greater range of perspectives and knowledge, meaning that we can provide the children and young people at our hospital with even better care.
Our hospital is committed to creating an environment that is open and inclusive. Our staff are encouraged to engage with colleagues through the following networks: REACH (Race, Ethnicity and Cultural Heritage) ENABLED (Enhancing Abilities & Leveraging Disabilities Network), PRIDE and Women’s networks; all of which are sponsored by a member of our Executive Management Team.
We want to ensure that all of our people, regardless of their background, are seen and heard. We want to attract applicants that share our commitment to inclusion and that understand diversity is a strength that is embraced and valued.
