Job Title: Waking Night Support Worker Location: Children’s Home (Solo Placement) Job Type: Full-Time / Part-Time (Waking Nights) Reports To: Registered Manager / Deputy Manager We are seeking a calm, reliable, and compassionate Waking Night Support Worker To provide consistent overnight care, safety, and emotional support to children and young people with complex trauma, attachment needs, and behavioural difficulties living in solo residential placements. The Waking Night Support Worker will ensure a safe, stable, and nurturing environment during the night, responding to the needs of young people in a trauma-informed manner, guided by PACE (Playfulness, Acceptance, Curiosity, Empathy) and Dyadic Developmental Practice (DDP). Key Responsibilities * Provide a consistent and reassuring presence overnight, responding sensitively to distress, anxiety, or behavioural incidents using co-regulation and therapeutic approaches. * Maintain safeguarding vigilance at all times, completing regular safety, health & safety, and security checks. * Follow individual care and behaviour support plans, recording observations, incidents, and safeguarding concerns accurately. * Complete thorough written handovers to ensure continuity between night and day staff. * Carry out light cleaning and household tasks to maintain a safe, hygienic, and welcoming environment. About You * Experience supporting children or young people, ideally within residential care. * Understanding of trauma-informed practice and safeguarding responsibilities. * Calm under pressure, emotionally aware, and able to work independently at night. * Flexible to work waking night shifts, including weekends and bank holidays.
