We have an exciting opportunity for a Head of Editorial and Publications (family leave cover) to join our Communications team on a 12-month fixed term contract. The successful candidate is expected to start in early December. About us and the role Here at the Solicitors Regulation Authority (SRA), our core job is driving confidence and trust in legal services. We regulate more than 200,000 solicitors and 9,000 law firms in England and Wales. We make sure solicitors are working to high professional standards, step-in to protect the public when needed, while supporting access to high-quality legal services. Whether it's the impact of AI, shifting risks in the legal market, or high-profile cases such as the Post Office Horizon scandal, our work is in the spotlight. We do an important job, and we are looking for a Head of Editorial and Publications (family cover) to help us get it right and make sure our communications have the right impact. This role focuses on providing editorial leadership to the organisation on drafting content across a range of channels and for a range of audiences, leading on embedding our tone of voice programme, Writing the SRA Way, across the organisation. This role will also focus on producing a range of publications on our specialist web publishing platform, relating to key policy development, as well as manage our brand and visual identity. The successful individual will also manage our annual corporate reporting, ensuring the way in which we communicate our progress as an organisation is impactful and engaging. The role holder will report into the Director of Communications. If you have excellent writing and copyediting skills, understand effective brand management, and experience producing impactful communications, this is the role for you. Experience in managing a brand, visual identity and delivering high-quality and impactful design work across printed and digital products. Experience in managing a tone of voice programme and delivering training on best writing practice and developing supporting learning and development resources. A track record in delivering high-quality external communications publications on policy work and development. Experience in managing a team and freelancers. This is a full-time role working 35 hours per week and we are happy to talk flexible working. The is a 12-month fixed term contract and the successful candidate is expected to start in early December. We are recruiting for this hybrid role in our Birmingham and London offices. You will be based in the office nearest to your location, with the expectation of working two days a week in the office and the remainder of the week from home. Some travel will be required to the SRA's other offices (usually to our Birmingham office if this is not where the role is based). The salary offer for this role is from £56,858 for Birmingham based and from £62,543 for London based, depending on knowledge, skills and experience.
