Contract: 6 Months (with potential extension) Rate: £300 per day (via umbrella) Location: Oxford 2 days per week onsite (Flexible Working) Start: ASAP We are seeking an experienced Transport Strategy Officer to join a high-performing team delivering Movement and Place Strategies that influence active travel, public realm, and infrastructure across Oxfordshire. This role offers the chance to shape policy and deliver impactful transport projects in one of the UKs most progressive local authorities. Key Responsibilities: Technical / Knowledge Leadership Provide subject matter expertise on Movement and Place Strategies and wider transport policies Monitor and communicate updates on legislation and policy developments Promote best practices and raise the Clients profile across a range of platforms Review and contribute to the technical outputs of the team Demonstrate continuous improvement through upskilling and innovation Use AutoCAD, GIS and other tools to support delivery of policy outputs Stakeholder & Relationship Management Build strong internal and external relationships to ensure consistent service delivery Engage with stakeholders and communities to shape priorities and strategy Draft reports, briefings, and presentations for senior leaders, Members, MPs and Programme Boards Act as the Clients focal point on Movement and Place Strategy engagement Project and Strategic Support Monitor and report on strategy outcomes and project milestones Support place-shaping initiatives incorporating active travel, public transport, and mobility hubs Assist in project prioritisation and funding bids Write consultant briefs and manage associated deliverables Lead stakeholder and public engagement activities Essential Skills & Experience: Proven experience in local transport planning and strategy development Understanding of Movement and Place principles, Active Travel and Public Realm concepts Strong stakeholder engagement and communication skills Proficiency (or ability to learn) in tools such as AutoCAD and GIS Experience producing strategic reports, project updates, and policy briefings This is a fantastic opportunity to lead meaningful change in a collaborative, forward-thinking environment.
