Annual salary: up to £27,850.00 General Operative Northeast Salary up to £27,825 per annum Full time - Permanent Role Including Company vehicle and fuel card Due to a new contract being gained with CAS, an exciting opportunity has arisen to join our team here at Mears as a General Operative, based in the Northeast. The Ministry of Justice has developed a ground-breaking service to enable prison leavers, who would otherwise be homeless, to escape the vicious cycle of crime by providing temporary accommodation upon release from prison. You will working in the void properties acquired to prepare them for new tenants or on reactive repairs in tenanted properties to ensure quality upkeep. About the Role As a General Operative, you will have basic DIY knowledge that can be built upon when joining. This role is for the Northeast, the main base is Rotherham however you will be required to cover Newcastle, Durham, Peterlee and Sunderland. As a General Operative with Mears, you'll be responsible for: General maintenance including possible light building and property repairs, possible repairs of fencing, basic plumbing, painting, floor and wall tiling, furniture repairs, general DIY including replacing locks, handles etc. To carry out repair and maintenance in the interior and exterior areas including putting up shelves, changing light bulbs, porter age including erecting/dismantling and moving furniture, removing waste and cleaning properties, grass cutting and general grounds maintenance To carry out maintenance, repairs work & routine checks in accordance with health & safety regulations including risks assessments & maintain statutory records; To maintain and unblock sewers and drains, including unblocking sinks. Carry out cleaning tasks to ensure the agreed standards are maintained for all accommodation To generally maintain any cleaning equipment, e.g. vacuum sweeper. To ensure that all equipment is used and stored in a safe manner and kept in a clean condition. To clean the public rooms, corridors, stairs and bathrooms. Role Criteria The successful candidate will have experience working in a similar role before and be confident to be able to carry out minor repairs and handy person work You will be comfortable with IT and being able to use a tablet for recording work carried out and taking photographs. The ability to communicate on a one-to-one basis and produce information in a written form, including completion of all necessary work documentation.
