Accounts Assistant - Motor Trade - Wakefield
As an Accounts Assistant, you will support the Volvo and Polestar brands by carrying out a wide range of core finance tasks, including managing sales and purchase ledgers, processing transactions, reconciling accounts, and assisting with month‑end activities.
Essentials (You Must Have)
* Proven experience supporting finance operations across multi-sites
* Strong capability in purchase ledger management and account reconciliation
* Strong organisational skills and the ability to prioritise workload effectively
Key Responsibilities
* Sales ledger duties: posting bank transactions, credit control, and following up debtor queries with departmental managers and customers
* Nominal ledger: posting bank, intercompany and other nominal ledger journals
* Managing and reconciling petty cash
* Assisting with month‑end close processes and resolving related queries
* Purchase ledger: coding and inputting invoices and credit notes, reconciling supplier statements, running payments and resolving supplier queries
* Responding promptly to internal and external finance queries
* Maintaining accurate financial records, documentation and filing systems
About You
* Excellent numeracy skills with strong attention to detail
* Good working knowledge of Microsoft Office applications (Excel, Word)
* Experience working under pressure while maintaining high levels of accuracy
* Confident handling queries face‑to‑face, over the phone and via email
* Previous experience in a similar Accounts Assistant role, ideally within a fast‑paced, multi‑site business
