Network Technical Services Graduate - Transmission 2026 Intake
Duration: 2 years commencing September 2026
Location: Perth or Dundee
Salary: Circa £34,000 per annum + a range of other benefits to support your family, finances, and wellbeing.
Degree Disciplines: Power Systems Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Electrical/Electronic Engineering
Security requirement: Candidates must obtain SC level vetting through the UK Government (normally 5 years UK residency).
As a Network Technical Services graduate joining SSEN Transmission, you will follow a specialist pathway. Specialists will work with experts in their specialism, gaining exposure within a business area for the duration of their graduate programme with the aim of providing experience that will lead to a substantive post.
Network Technical Services
As a vital component of our substation infrastructure, the Protection and SCADA systems are fundamental to the safe and secure operation of the electrical network. These systems are expertly operated and maintained by our Technical Services team, who handle installation, routine servicing, and fault management daily. In this role, you’ll develop your expertise in these critical engineering disciplines, overseeing assets throughout their operational lifecycle. Working within the Operations team, you’ll apply your skills hands-on during commissioning and fault rectification activities, contributing to a dynamic and challenging work environment.
We at SSEN Transmission are currently working on a number of high-profile transmission projects which are ensuring our transmission network can transmit clean renewable energy whilst being safe, efficient, and structurally sound, therefore providing sustainable and reliable energy to all.
What do I need?
You’ll have a minimum of a 2:2 bachelor's degree in Power Systems Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Electrical/Electronic Engineering
We'd love you to have some practical work experience that reflects your passion for the energy sector, as well as demonstrable experience of working in a team. You'll also be comfortable working to and setting stretching individual targets and using your own initiative to overcome challenges and should have a genuine interest in SSEN Transmission and the prospect of a long-term future with us.
We want you to feel confident about what happens next in our recruitment process, which has three stages: Online Testing, Video Interview, and an In-Person Assessment Centre.

* If you’re successful, we’ll be in touch by Monday 10 November 2025 with an invitation to complete an online video interview.
* Our Hiring Managers will carefully review all video interviews, and if you make it through, we’ll contact you by Wednesday 10 December 2025 with an invite to attend our Assessment Day expected to take place January/February 2026. We’ll need you to confirm your attendance by Sunday 4 January 2026.
