The Role
The KPMG Finance Transformation team is looking to enhance our capability for Insurance Finance Systems architecture. As part of this, we are looking for an experienced solution architect who is able fulfil the following responsibilities:
Client Delivery:
1. Independently lead large scale Insurance Finance Transformation workstreams focusing on Solution and Architecture design with accountability for the engagement delivery and client outcomes.
2. Ability to communicate and demonstrate, through delivery, the benefits of KPMG’s Finance Systems Transformation approach and ensure benefits are realised for our clients
3. Ability to manage cross functional global engagement teams both internally within KPMG and external client teams.
4. Building rapport and maintaining external vendor relationships to support delivery of each engagement. Acts as a conduit between vendors and client teams and translate system ‘jargon’ into business terminology
5. Build positive and collaborative relationships with senior client stakeholders
6. Facilitate collaborative and fulfilling working environments for the client and KPMG staff on engagements
Business Development:
7. The candidate will need to be able to build and leverage both internal and external relationships to help support Partners and Directors in driving business development and sales activities
8. Will lead and/or support the development of related response for proposals (RFPs) and sales pitches to potential clients
9. Develop innovative Go-to-Market propositions based on client issues
10. Build credibility and relationships in the Market including with prospective clients and with technology vendors
11. Seek to cross-sell and bring opportunities to other part of the firm where appropriate
Practice Development
12. Leading the development of processes and initiatives that are key to scaling the business including through formal training across the team
Risk Management
13. Identifying and managing risks, engagement assurance and commercial risk management and ensuring the Firm's frameworks are implemented appropriately and effectively
People Management & Talent Development:
14. The candidate will be able to demonstrate a track record or leading delivery teams as well as developing teams within a consulting practice.
15. Act as formal performance manager for junior members of the team and actively participate in our bi-annual appraisal process
16. Support the development of junior team members through formal training as well as informal coaching & mentoring capacities
The Person
Successful candidates should have excellent Insurance finance knowledge (including interactions with the actuarial function) and demonstrate the following skills:
17. Extensive experience working in the Insurance industry, with examples of delivering client work across Life, General Insurance and Lloyd’s of London Markets companies
18. Excellent understanding of the business model for insurance and reinsurance entities, including products and channels
19. Understanding of key industry challenges across Insurance, being able to translate these into strategic solutions
20. Detailed knowledge of Insurance Finance including leading practise reporting processes, controls and risks.
21. Understanding of key technology trends in Insurance including migration to Cloud, SaaS, Automation, Big Data etc.
22. Strong understanding of the end to end finance systems architecture, how each of the components are linked and technologies which are available in the market
23. Ability to design the strategic finance systems architecture required given client requirements and build the transition states and roadmap required to reach the Vision
24. Good knowledge of the key technologies and systems involved in insurance finance including Actuarial models, ERP systems, Consolidation tools, Reporting/Analysis tools and data platforms.
25. Awareness and understanding of Insurance reporting standards and requirements
26. Strong people manager, able to lead large teams and develop others
27. Self-starting, pro-active team player that is experienced in working in challenging environments and within a multi-disciplined Global team
28. Ability to create and deliver engaging presentations and output reviews to senior executives/stakeholders and business managers.
29. Ability to review and challenge information that has been provided by other team members, ensuring the information is ‘fit for purpose’ and at the right level of granularity
30. Flexibility to travel
Experience
Successful candidates should have experience in one or more of the following areas:
31. Experience in leading the end-to-end solution design at major insurers including general ledger, data storage, consolidation solutions, reporting suite and planning, budgeting and forecasting
32. Experience across all phases of the Solution lifecycle including conceptual design, POC, vendor selection, Programme mobilisation, solution design, delivery management, testing and Dry-run
33. Design experience of Microsoft Dynamics 365 F&O to support a ledger replacement programme
34. Design experience of Oracle Fusion to support a ledger replacement programm
35. Experience in IFRS 17 and/or Solvency II design and implementation having led the delivery of key technology changes
