Team
In this role youwill report to the Head of Legal UK and will support them with allresponsibilities in relation to the provision of legal advice tothe UK business as well as in relation to wider group and strategicprojects. You will be responsible for drafting reviewing andnegotiating commercial agreements in respect of new and existingservices. You will also provide expert strategic and creativecommercial and regulatory legal advice to business teams. As partof your role you will research analyse and monitor new and existinglaws that are relevant to our business in the UK (and potentiallyEurope) in coordination with other group legal colleagues. You willbe part of a multijurisdictional but connected team of hardworkinglawyers in an open diverse and friendlyenvironment.
YourResponsibilities
* Providing accuraterelevant and commercial legal advice in an accessible andcommercial manner to all areas of the UK business with particularfocus on the commercial teams and commercial contracts with banksdistribution partners and key serviceproviders.
* Working closely with stakeholdersand developing strong relationships with all functions within thebusiness both in the UK and the wider group to facilitate a timelyreferral to legal of relevant issues andqueries.
* Conducting legal horizon scanning andpresenting to relevant stakeholders including Senior Management andproviding proactive support and advice on aspects of existing andemerging legal issues and risks and specific project support anddelivery.
* Supporting the UK Compliance functionwith the ongoing review and development of the firms policiesprocedures systems and controls to ensure compliance with relevantlaws and regulations and to facilitate better processes internalaccountability and oversight.
* Supporting thegrowth implementation and embedding of the firms Risk ManagementFramework.
* Owning the accurate and appropriatestorage of all legal documents within the business and ensuringdocument management protocols are implemented and understood acrossthe business areas to ensure efficient and accurate documentmanagement in the UK.
* Supporting businessdevelopment and technology functions with specific legal guidancein relation to the creation of new products andpartnerships.
* Supporting UK governanceimplementation and UK Board related preparation filings andpresentations.
* Engaging and managing to theextent considered appropriate external lawyers andadvisors.
YourProfile
* Law degree or equivalentconversion postgraduate qualification.
* 12 yearsof PostQualified Experience.
* Negotiation andlegal drafting skills; preferably with experience in drafting andnegotiating contracts within the financial servicessector.
* The ability to find creative solutionsto legal and commercial issues but within acceptable legal and riskframeworks; as well as to understand and take account businessdrivers and needs.
* A good grasp of relevantbusiness as well as legal issues industry developments and legalsocial and political trends that may have an impact on thebusiness.
* The ability to clearly explain legalrisks develop sound mitigation strategies and find acceptablecommercial solutions; having a sound judgement on difficultissues.
* A technical understanding of laws andregulations including working knowledge of or willingness toupskill in relation to FSMA the MLRs PSRs latest MLDs andJMLSG.
* Customerfocused organised selfdrivencollaborative proactive andinnovative.
* Adaptability to work in a fastpacedscaling environment including providing helpful and solutionfocused advice with a willingness to get involved in the detail atall levels.
* Excellent verbal and writtencommunication skills with an ability to break down complex issuesinto understandable and accessible forms. Solid communicationskills and fluent in English both spoken andwritten.
